All-Pro leadership advice from Archie Manning

Archie Manning, former all-pro quarterback and father of Eli and Peyton Manning, gave NCBA members some advice on leadership during their second general session.

Manning said they need to think like a leader, set goals like a leader, and act like a leader.

If you think like a leader Manning said you can overcome adversity with desire. Manning spent his career in the National Football League with the New Orleans Saints and had the opportunity to hear motivational speeches from several different coaches. All of these coaches encouraged the players to start thinking like leaders.

Successful leaders set goals. Manning said if you don’t manage your goals, someone else will.

Leadership is about action. Manning said managers do things right, leaders to the right thing. Leadership is not something you are it is something you do.

“Everyone can be a better leader in theirprofession, their family, and their life,” Manning said.
