McDonald’s VP talks sustainability for beef industry

The McDonald’s Corporation recently announced that it wants start sourcing its beef supply from a sustainable  supply chain by 2016. Bob Langert, vice president corporate sustainability for McDonald’s Corporation, discussed this decision with beef producers during Cattlemen’s Colleg

e at the 2014 Cattle Industry Convention.

Langert said McDonald’s is working with the Global Roundtable for Sustainable beef to define exactly what sustainability is as it applies to the beef industry. The National Cattlemen’s Beef Association is part of this Global Roundtable. The packing industry as wellas several non-governmental organizations (NGO) are part of this discussion, as well.

“We are committed to collaborating with you,” Langert said.
