Better Beef Sales

A retail education program for frontline meat counter workers was launched at the Cattle Industry Convention in Nashville, Tenn.,  on Feb. 1. Merck Animal Health partnered with the Beef Checkoff Program, and the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association to produce the web-based retail training program.

Better Beef Sales on-line program consists of a series of six web-based training modules for retail meat counter employees. The program covers several topics including types and quality of beef, sustainability of today’s beef, animal welfare practices, beef improvement technologies, and ways retailers can add value to the meat case.

The on-line training program will educate meat counter employees and make consumers feel more comfortable about the beef products the are buying. Consumers decisions about the products they buy are now far more complex than they were in the recent past.
